
Suzanne Pleshette (January 31, 1937 from 1937 to January 19 2008) was an American theatre, film television, and voice actress. 1 Pleshette began her professional career in the theater and was first seen in films towards the end of the 1950s. Later, she appeared in films with a notable name like Rome Adventure (1962), Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds (1963), and Spirited Away (2001). Then, she was in several television productions and was often an actor in guest roles. She played Emily Hartley in The Bob Newhart Show from 1972 to 1978, in which she earned many Emmy Award nominations. Pleshette was born on January 31, 1937, in the New York City neighborhood of Brooklyn Heights, to Geraldine (nee Kaplan)[1] and Eugene Pleshette. Her parents were Jewish as were the descendants of immigrants from Russia, Austria-Hungary. She was the daughter of Geraldine Rivers, a performer and dancer. Her father was the stage manager for the Paramount Theater, Manhattan, and the Paramount Theater, Brooklyn.
