Sharon Yvonne Stone is the only daughter born to Dorothy Lawson (an accountant) and Joseph William Stone II, who was a manufacturer of tool and dies, as well as a former worker in a factory. Sharon was born on 10 March 1958, at Meadville Pennsylvania. She has three siblings: Michael, Kelly, and Patrick. Stone has a talent in school as a young child, began her second grade education at the age of five. Stone graduated from high school with a certificate in Saegertown which is located in Saegertown situated in Pennsylvania in 1975. She also competed and was crowned at the Miss Pennsylvania beauty contest. Stone relocated to New Jersey with her aunt New Jersey, where she pursued a career in modeling. In the following month, Stone signed up at the Ford Modeling Agency. Soon after, Stone relocated back to Europe and spent an entire year living in Milan in Italy and Paris. Stone was disillusioned by the fashion industry in Europe, and chose to focus on acting instead. She appeared at 20 in Woody Allen's "Stardust Memories" a film that received mixed reviews.
